Tank Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I was running up the coast today 70-80 mph pace, just lovin life, when I had to overtake a cage with Mom driving and a young girl 13 or 14?? in the backseat. As I came around, I sware I read her lips " thats what I wanta do" as she sat with her hands covering an invisable handlebar, than a big smile.... I gave her a thumps up only to discover that she musta really said it out loud, cus Mom had a look of dread on her otherwise mommy face. I hope she is able to follow her dreams.
TNT Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Wow Tank, Just today on I-90 east on my way over to see the new fire in the Black Hills. I went around a car. Then car comes up on me doing well 85+, and hangs out. Then around me slowly, like looking. Yep they where, with a nine year old boy looking with a big smile and thumps up. Then Dad lets me go by and he backed down. I ever saw them again.
TrickLidz Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Happens to us all the time when on the bike...we love to give 'em a big Spread the Love.
AdventurePoser Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Happens to us all the time when on the bike...we love to give 'em a big Spread the Love. +1 on that....I remember being in the back of Dad's old 59 Ford station wagon, coming out to California when the motorcyclist rode up next to us and gave me a big thumbs up. Never forgot that. J and I spread the love everytime we ride. It is so cool to be part of a little kid's dream! Steve

I had the Red KS, with a red jacket and helmet. I think little kids thought I was a power ranger cause they would just sit with their mouths agape. I always wave. I don't get it as much on my GT.
bakerzdosen Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Funny how cultures are different eh? I remember as a kid (probably 8-10)riding in the back of the family station wagon on some trip somewhere. We were passed by some folk on what must have been cruisers. First time in my life I'd ever been "flashed" by one of the chic's on back. A wouldn't have been nearly as memorable.
Paul_Burkett Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 It is wonderful to look into a car and see young kids with a huge smile on their face and the look that lets me remember that I am doing what what others only dream of. well maybe me and 20,000,000 other kids on bikes.
roadscholar Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 This afternoon I was leaving an intersection next to a schoolbus on my ST. As I looked up in the bus a kid stood up with a huge grin and gave me a big wave, and I gave him a big one back. One of those little things that makes you feel good.
cherylk Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I love it when I get to an intersection and there beside me in the cage are kids either smilling and/or waving. Sometimes they play peek-a-boo.

Sometimes they play peek-a-boo. Honest-to-goodness I had one of those little charmers, maybe 5 or six, give me the ol' One Finger Victory Salute once. Talk about a confliction of feelings... Steve
Tank Posted October 26, 2007 Author Posted October 26, 2007 Yes , i agree... the kids are great in the way they lightup at times when they see a bike. But this young girl will ride, I saw it in her eyes and smile, a quick flash of what i see in other riders
