yechave Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Not being too big an issue, I notice when the sun hits the tach just right, it looks like the lens needs to be cleaned. Having done that about 4 times now, I realized today the stuff on the lens is inside the tach. Can the glass be removed easily? If not, I will leave it the way it is. The debate to keep the bike is still ongoing. Guess the upcoming trip will be the deciding factor. Kinda sold on the electric windshield...... cons: the seats too high and it feels too top heavy for me. Finally got used to the clunky trans and love the bike otherwise.
Ken H. Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 The tach and the speedo are held together with a crimped around chromed band. Difficult to get off, even more difficult to get back on. I've heard of people cutting the band off, then gluing the housing halves back together, but personally I wouldn't go there.
alexp Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Get a new gauge or live with that. Same thing happened on my old 99 RT.
ully211 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I twice had my Tach replaced under warranty for water intrusion ... same thing, looked like a very faint film which was probably just condensation.
