eddd Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 It looks like we will finally get the first "cold front" of the season tomorrow. It will "only" get to the upper 70s after the front comes through. Highs in this area are typically mid 90s for months on end making riding in the afternoon (and many mornings) very uncomfortable. I'm ready to start the search for the coolest (temperature-wise) mesh gear I can find that still offers good protection. I'd like to say money is no object, but it always needs to be considered into the equation. I might be asking too much, but it would be great if there were additional layers included or available to extend the usefullness of the gear for those times when conditions vary. Thanks for taking the time to share.
eisen Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Personally, i use ALOT of spidi gear. I have their NL5 jacket (for me and the Mrs), a sunjacket, an R-Course Tex jacket and an R-Course leather jacket. All come with optional rain/wind proof inserts and CE certified armor. I added KNOX back protectors as well... My favorite (in case you were wondering ) is the NL5. Fantastically cool in the unforgiving & unrelenting Israeli heat. Pics on request

Joe Rocket makes a mesh jacket that flows a lot of air but may not fair too well with a get off. Olympia makes the Airglide II mesh jacket that has armour on the elbows, shoulders and back. The trade off here is that the arms, chest area and back only have partial mesh, check it out here Airglide II I have the Airglide II in Silver/Pewter which is cooler in the sun but anything around 40C (105F) is a sweat fest. Good luck on your quest. Keith
stubblejumper Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I wore the jacket below on a tour this summer and was pleased with it.A liner is available, but I just wear a nylon windbreaker underneath in cooler weather. In cold weather,I add a gerbing electric vest. http://motorhelmets.com/htm-apparels/m2r/pr-apparel-m2r-street-jackets-2007-men-textile-airmesh.htm
TracerBullet Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Personally I use Motoport Air Kevlar Mesh up to about 100 degrees. Not cheap but I would buy it again if I needed
AdventurePoser Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I love my Cortech GT Air jacket paired with leather pants. Here is So Cal, temps get pretty high in the summer and the GT Air has never let me down. Steve in So Cal
