bobbybob Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 At the risk of opening another can of worms, I am asking this question. In the OEM parts fiche for R1200RT's, there are 2 different final drive assemblies listed: for "Up to 08/2006" and a different one for "08/2006 and above". Can someone tell me the difference in the 2 units? There also appears to be a "screw plug" for Up To 8-2006 and an "oil drain plug" for 8-2006 and above--both being the same part in the diagram. Hmmmm.....
Marty Hill Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Second date is when the '07 bikes began arriving and BMW began changing the f/d oil on the first service.
Paul Mihalka Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 The first final drive oil drain plug I've seen arrived two days ago at our dealership, on a late '07 production run R1200GS Adventure.
Buckster Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 There is also a different needle bearing at the end of the bevel gear (07) exploded rear end Buckster
