Bluetooth nirvana...

Disclaimer: ( I am not associated with these companies nor advertising just trying to work out a system I would be happy with and get rid of some or all of those pesky wires)

I have been investigating Bluetooth headsets and believe I may have found what I am looking for Benchmark. Benchmark Helmets offers the Camos 600 that provides the ability to pair up to three devices to the headset simultaneously using Bluetooth 2.0. It supports the ability to pair a second Camos 600 Bluetooth headset used for intercom, plus two other devices, has at least one prioritized channel and a very long battery life of up to 13 hours as verified by someone on the BMWLT forum. These headsets also support A2DP and hands-free for cell phone usage. Assuming that I can purchase two Bluetooth adapters, one for the MP3 player and one for the output of the Valentine1 I should be able to connect both of these to the headset. For the MP3 and V1 I would simply plug the male 3.5 mm cable into a Bluetooth adapter and pair each of these to the Bluetooth headset.

So, here are the issues I see, I use Etymotic ER6 earphones and want to continue to use these with the Camos BT headset. What I am thinking is that I should be able to detach the existing speakers, leaving enough wire to reconnect them should I need to and then solder a female 3.5 mm stereo adapter plug to the speaker wires. Then I can plug the Etymotics into the headset instead of using the existing speakers. The only problem I see with this plan is that ear bud style speakers tend to have higher impedance and require higher power to obtain the same level of volume. I am assuming this will have two consequences (1) Battery life will be reduced. (2) The volume levels may not be suitable.

To address the battery life issue should it become a problem I can get a second Camos Bluetooth adapter which contains the rechargeable/removable battery. With respect to the volume I am not sure how this could be addressed should it be a problem. I am thinking an inline volume control might work as long as it was small enough to hide in the helmet. In talking with Spencer at Benchmark he told me that he will be going to an industry show in Germany in early November and he will be talking directly to the Camos manufacture. He said that Camos is working on a prototype unit (Box) that mounts directly to the bike and has a Bluetooth module of its own. You plug all of your accessories into this unit and it links those accessories to the headset using Bluetooth.

Also, there is a company in Italy that is selling a Midland radio Model Alan HP450 that has an available Bluetooth module CTE International. The problem is that the frequency ranges in Europe do not seem to be compatible with the US for FRS/GMRS.

Does anyone see a problem with the plan to remove the headset speakers and use the Etymotics? Does anyone have a suggestion or work around for how the Midland radio could be reprogrammed to use the US FRS/GMRS radio frequencies? I am more than happy to be the Guinea Pig with pictures and detailed how to once I get this working but need some help. I am also thinking the Midland BT module connector could possibly be modified to plug into a Kenwood FRS/GMRS radio.

Cheers!

They don't mention which walkie talkie interfaces with the push-to-talk so I sent them an email to find out. Also I imagine getting service might be problematic as they don't appear to have US service base.
