MGN54 Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 OK, next on the list is the final drive oil. Looking in the envelope that I got the oil and tranny washers in, there are no washers for the final drive even though I asked for them!!! Damn! Are these a common size that I can get at the autoparts place? If so, anyone know what size I need for drain and refil plug on the final drive? Thanks! Mark
wolcott Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Mark: I see you have an older 2000 R1100RT. I, also have a R1100RT and my notes say you need (3) of the 14mm X 18mm crush washers. They will fit the final drive fill plug, the final drive drain plug, and the trans drain plug. Try part #07119963200. For your info, the oil drain fill plug is 16mm X 20 mm, and the trans fill plug washer is 18mm X 22mm according to my notes.
MGN54 Posted October 20, 2007 Author Posted October 20, 2007 Thanks Michael! So if I go into my local Autozone and ask for a 14mm x 18mm crush washer will they look at me like I have three heads? Sure would like to find these local as my nearest dealer is 60 miles away. I appreciate the info. Will take note in my notes. Mark
smiller Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 If you still have it you can just use the original crush washer. It isn't vital to replace them each time.
nrp Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 If you still have it you can just use the original crush washer. It isn't vital to replace them each time. Put a little gasket cement (Permatex etc) on them if you reuse them to minimize the torque required to make them leak-free.
Clive Liddell Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Mark, Just be sure to get Aluminium crush washers...
jfremder Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I've used copper before instead of aluminum. Bad?
