True 3/4 Mesh jackets?

I have one, so I know they exist. I have a Heine Gerick 3/4 Mesh jacket that I purchased from another board member. I am sure that if I looked hard enough I could find an HG again, but I am open to exploring other possibilities. The problem with my current jacket you ask? It's starting to wear out and its just time to get another one. It's starting to fray and get holes (other than the mesh). And before anyone throws motoport into the mix, I would like to keep the costs fairly low on this. I am basically looking for end of season deals. grin.gifthumbsup.gif

What's the advantage of a 3/4 mesh jacket? I can see the advantages in water resistance and warmth with a solid one, but....

Think man with large stomach that likes to keep it covered. I knew somebody wouldn't understand...lol. I have a Joe Rocket Phoenix, and even with the 2XL it feels like it doesn't really fit. It's kinda like short sheeting a bed. crazy.gifeek.gifdopeslap.gif

Olympia Bushwhacker. It's a true 3/4-length, regardless of size. It fits Glockster and he even looks good in it. tongue.gif I don't need any more jackets, but I got a 2X anyway because it's such a good jacket. It hangs right and fits right. Fitting you in one should be easy.

I totally understand! That's the one part where I really prefer my BMW 3/4 over the Olympia (mesh) regular coat.

The Olympia is great....and they're in Hendersonville just up the road from you. Your local dealer sells them, so go in and try one on.

Sorry we didn't ge together over the summer. We've abandoned SC for the winter....yeah, I know the weather is great right now!

See you in the spring.

Contact Motoport and have them make one to your specifications. Their mesh is supposed to be more abrasian resistent than other manufacturers. I had them make a 3/4 jacket custom for me and it has been a real joy to wear.

Thanks Francis, you just proved that most people don't read most of the posts that they reply to. crazy.gif

First Gear Kilimanjaro Air Jacket. It's a 3/4 length jacket. It's one of the few you can get in yellow/black combo which I prefer. Lots of pockets, nicely made, double zipper so you can open it from bottom so it doesn't bunch up which longer jackets do sometimes when you're sitting on the bike.

Been wearing it with and without inner liner from 45-95 degrees F. Inner liner is supposed to be waterproof but to be honest I have no experience with it in heavy rain.

I've been using the FirstGear Kilimanjaro Air, which is a really nice jacket. They are now discontinued, so they can be found at discounted prices if you can find the right size/color combination. (I've seen them as low as $170.00)

Kilimanjaro Air

FirstGear has now replaced the Kilimanjaro Air with the "Torrent Mesh."

I am on my third Kilimanjaro Air, jacket. They are great jackets. However they are only 3/4 year jackets. They are great for Atlanta, fall, winter and spring. The jacket just does not cut it in Atlanta for summer use. Shawn if you want to try one, I can send you one for trying out. You can use for a week and send it back. Just let me know. I have the all black and the yellow/black combo. As noted above the yellow/black combo jacket is visible. Once again for our weather, I only use it 3/4 of the year. Over 85 only a motoport mesh waist jacket works, and even that is hot during atlanta summers.

Randy,

I'll be at the ATL tech day. Bring it and I'll take a look at it. I usually only wear the mesh on days over 85 F or so. I wear my Roadcrafter the rest of the time. After getting the stich I have become a bit spoiled about not having to put on riding pants anymore. Unfortunately I don't have the 1K to get the Motorport 1 piece mesh suit. 1K would go a long way to putting a swim platform on the boat. smile.gif

I would say something funny here, but you're bigger than me lmao.giflmao.giflmao.gif

How much mesh are you looking for? First Gear has the Torrent jacket that is mostly mesh. However, I'm not seeing any end of the season deals on them.

If you were an XL, I'd suggest this. And the current Netway is probably just too much $$.

Here's something that popped up in my web search on the matter.

With that said, most of the stuff I saw came back saying "Motoport". (Yes, I can and did read. Funny.)

what about a Motoport stretch kevlar then lmao.giflmao.giflmao.gif

Randy's yellow and black jacket works well for visibility. I see him in traffic pretty regularly. (We both commute on the same stretch of i-85.) Not quite as visible as your current banana suit, but good. tongue.gif

I've been dreaming about getting a motoport kevlar 3/4 jacket too, but I'll have to work more overtime to afford it.

WOW Ron, fabulous price on that link for the Kilimanjaro Air Jacket..every color except solid black is $119.95 lowest price I've seen ! Since the Torrent doesn't come in women's sizes(and why not FG?) I may order another yellow/black Kilimanjaro Air for a backup

Shawn, I will bring it to the tech day. And yes, my over the winter purchase is the Motoport air mesh 1 piece. I have the air mesh pants now, and I am getting the waist jacket, and the 1 piece. Once I have those two sets of clothing I am set for life. I currently ride in my air mesh pants down to 45 degrees. I use good quality med weight long johns underneath and a gerbings heated jacket up top, with a turtle neck design insulated top.

shawn if you do not need the tall version, the 119.95 price for the killimangero Air is a killer deal. I would highly recommned one of those for 119.95. Like I noted above, I ride Oct - May in mine. May is a little hot, but it works.
