A tech novice has a Zumo Question?

Saturday I was playing with a BMW - Garmin Zumo. I was able to program in an address and it gave me the distance and time from Morton's, which seemed accurate. It also told me how to leave Morton's and how far to my first turn. However, I could not get a route overview or even scroll forward to check the directions. Is their a way to do this? Or, is there a place I can go on-line to do some simulated play with one?

This image from the Garmin website shows a route overview. You get this view by pressing on the top margin of the screen, and then asking for "map." You can also get a screen that shows all the turns in sequence.

I haven't found the route overview to be particularly useful on the Zumo, because of the limitations of the screen size, although you can move the cursor and zoom in on any part of the route you want. I believe the thought is that you will design your routes on your computer and then download them to the Zumo.

For me, the best features of the Zumo have been the default screen that shows your immediate surroundings and the distance to your next turn, and the XM radio.

George, with an active route running just touch the (TURN IN) box at the lower right & you will get a split screen that allows you to scroll turn by turn through the entire trip using the up/down arrows.. Or you can just scroll a few turns ahead to see what it in your future..

You also have another option: That is to push the “wrench”,, then touch “system”,, then set “GPS mode” to “GPS off”.. That will allow you to pre run the entire trip turn by turn (it is rather slow so not good for long trip with lots of turns).. To simulate the trip just choose a route & hit GO,, you will then get a choice box that asks if you want to simulate the trip (only works with GPS mode set to GPS OFF)..

You can also put it in turn by turn mode and view all the turns. Just scroll down to see more. As I recall you touch the top most frame on the map screen. It definitely can be done.

If you touch anywhere on the map itself, it becomes a birds-eye view. You can then simply use the MINUS button top left of screen to view the entire route if you want, or just press with your finger and drag the map in the direction of travel on your route if you dont want to zoom out.

This is the technique I use.
