Firefight911 Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Saw this the other day in our local newspaper but forgot to post. RIP Bud Ekins Definitely a worthy person with a great love for motorcycles!! I love 'The Great Escape' and everyone remembers that jump!
Calvin (no socks) Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 I saw it Friday in the NY Times....No one else at work knew of him... when I said he did the jumps for Steve McQueen in the Great Escape... they thought I was nuts... Dualsport before it was cool... RIP Bud.
JerryMather Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Monday, I went riding with a couple friends and his name can up in a conversation. When I got back home I read that he passed on. Interesting how things like that work. I was fortunate to have grown up around him because he owned the local Honda shop in Sherman Oaks, Ca. Going into his place when I was just a little kid and seeing Steve McQueen shooting the shit with him was pretty cool. His collection of bikes that he kept at his shop was also very cool. As a young kid, I lusted after more than a few of them. He was a very nice guy and a great stunt rider. I have some very fond memories of him and his shop.
