2002 R1150RT - My right and left blinkers flash fast sometimes and then slow sometimes. I have checked the contacts and they all look good. Dealer isn't much help. Any ideas?

If you hold the one of the signal switches for 5 seconds, do the lights flash fast, than go into a "normal" flash rate? If so, you've probibly got a module in the fuse box. I can think of what its called confused.gif I've got one on my '04 RT. I think its also responsible for flashing the brake light.

Go around and check ALL the connections at the turn signal bulbs. One is probably loose.

Could be there is a Kisan Signal Minder installed on the bike. If you push and hold the signal button, the lights will flash rapidly and then resume normal flash rate after some predetermined time, they will also self-cancel after some programmable time. There is also an option to cancel the self cancel if your brake light is actuated. The box would be under your seat where the normal flasher relay goes.

The other possibility is corrosion within the bulb sockets is preventing good contact with the bulbs. This will cause the stock or the Kisan flasher to think the bulb is burned out and cause the lights to flash rapidly. This too can come and go as vibrations can alternately make or break the contact with the bulb. A temporary fix is to mix up a loose paste of baking soda and water and scrub out the socket with an old tooth brush. Do the same to the bases of the bulbs. Rinse and dry and then re-install. I used to get a lot of this on my GS Adventure. Be OK for a month or so and then come back. The sockets are cheap and can easily be replaced.

Could also be a bad bulb or two.
