Michael Fajans Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 Do any of you have experience with the Dynaplug Tire Repair kit? And if you think it's worthwhile where it can be purchased.
Stan Walker Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 The good news: I have used them with great results in the past. I carry one on my RT all the time. The bad news: The last I heard their factory burned down and they never recovered. I've also heard that the rights to the design were up for sale. If you find some, or some of the plugs for sale, I would like to know. I would like to stock up on the plugs and buy a second unit for a spare. Stan

Yeah, count me in on that too. The Dynaplug was the best tire repair system I've ever used, without even a close second. I have a small amount of the refills left and will be very sorry when they are gone. The product line has been for sale for several years (www.dynaplug.com). Started out at $100k and now is down to $20k (for the intellectual property alone I would think, no idea how much the actual manufacturing equipment would cost). I've serioulsy thought about it but don't really know enough about how to market such a thing.

smiller Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 found some dynaplugs (plugs only) using google http://www.precisiontandems.com/dynaplug.htm Thanks! Welcome to the forum and great first post!
smiller Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Nice work .....Now anyone know where to get the tool TIA It may be pretty tough to come by one of the official tools, but it is a very simple implement and it should be pretty easy to make one... all you would need is some metal tubing with an OD that is approximately equal to the diameter of the metal tip of the DynaPlug plug, and maybe thread the other end so you can attach a handle. Now that I have a lifetime's supply of plugs coming (thanks to the link above) I might try to make up another tool myself. I wonder why no one ever picked up the DynaPlug line, especially at the relatively low cost. It's a great product, far and away the best external tire repair method I've ever used. Perhaps product liability concerns make this type of venture impractical these days.

I've serioulsy thought about it but don't really know enough about how to market such a thing. Saw this thread searching for a good tire repair kit. Looks like Dyna will soon be back in business. I go the following from their website: United States Product Developement in Chico, California, recently acquired all rights to the Dynaplug Company as well as the entire Dynaplug product line. We are in the process of reviving manufacture and launching the Dynaplug™ back into the market. Here is the web site.
Stan Walker Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Cool, best ever tire plug! I still have about 20 plugs and a single tool, but I would like more!!! Stan
