Odd sensation in 2nd gear, '02 R1150RT

Hi,

 

Just completed a 800km trip with my wife as pillion and on the last leg of 300km I noticed that in 2nd gear the bike has an odd vibration. The vibe seems like the ridges in the road they cut as one comes up to a stop sign on country roads. It starts then stops continuously as long as I'm in 2nd gear. I feel it in the seat of my pants and the handle bars.

Any ideas?

IS it when accelerating or maintaining a constant speed? Is it as a specific RPM or over a range?

 

If I'm maintaining a constant 25mph in 2nd gear, I can get some gear chatter which is normal.
