rickman125
I am putting a new piston in my master cylinder on a 96 rt. How do you get the piston out? I can see it and it spins but it will not come out. Link to comment
Dr Klawn
Rickman125, Check out Anton's webite for this: http://www.largiader.com/tech/r11mc/ I had to replace mine a couple of years ago and this was one of the better descriptions I found. There is a setscrew on the left side of the unit, beneath the reservoir. I think you need to pull the lever first. Link to comment
PapaJ
Gently push the piston in and using a set of circlip pliers remove the circlip. Then slide out the piston and spring. Link to comment
rickman125
Thank you for the web site. The job is now complete, I replaced the piston spread the break pads, added fluid and put the cap on. After the pads hit the rotor the lever was solid and the breaks worked great without any bleading. If it does not leak I will be happy. Link to comment
ahirsch
Great website on reconditioning the master cylinder. No problems yet, but I added the link to my collection of files. It seems there is a pictorial essay for most every procedure. Thanks to the people who put these together!!! Link to comment
Clive Liddell
PJ, No circlips on R bikes - there is a small 3mm? setscrew in the side that blocks the master piston from coming out. Link to comment
LanceJFerraro
Make sure that the pressure relief hole is clear. It is a tiny hole that releases residual pressure after brakes are applied. It is usually just forward of the rest position of the piston. If it is plugged you'll have a hell of a time bleeding the system. Link to comment
