leikam Posted August 21, 2007 Share Posted August 21, 2007 I saw this show. Their original setup had Buster on a motorcycle beside a truck wheel that blew out. No real damage to Buster. This is the revised their rig designed to find out what maximum damage could be. Notice that they shoot the gator directly out the rear and that there's no friction at the launch point. A tire that disintegrates would have adhesion to the tire carcass before it let go and surface friction with the road. Both would slow it down significantly so I don't think you're seeing a real-world scenario. Still, any object that heavy travelling at 55mph is going to hurt plenty. Link to comment
