Brake Failure

So I am back riding after a break. On my K1200RS, the brake failure light isn't going off as quickly as before, and twice on a 500 mile road today I had to restart before I had power to the brakes. Of course, I'm taking it into the shop right away. But I was wondering if anyone has experience with the brake failure light staying on (maybe a minute before I gave up and decided to start again).
