Frank Cloud
Anyone try this unit, supposedly designed for motorcycles? Link to comment
John Bentall
The biggest differences between Garmin and Tomtom are 1) The excellent PC-based computer planning available with Garmin Mapsource that enables complex cross-country routes to be downloaded to Nav Unit. 2) Here in Europe the Tomtom aftersales support is rubbish whreas the Garmin support is superb - and it is European product for heavens sake! If you do go for a TomTom you must get the Rider 2, as the original Rider had a fault withe the mount. Link to comment
bakerzdosen
Not to worry... the TomTom after-sale support here in the USA makes the European support look superb. I personally like TomTom products, but their maps aren't very good in the USA. They're outdated. And if you really don't like your TomTom after buying it, the faulty mount isn't really faulty because it will force you to buy another GPS once the thing falls off at speed. I know it sucks hearing it (because there are some deals to be had on the original Rider these days), but the Garmin stuff is just a much better product all around. If I could find a Rider2 for say... $350, I could definitely tolerate the issues I have with the unit. However, I've never even seen a Rider for that price. Just my 2¢. Link to comment
