Tire repair kit and pump

I saw a tire repair kit advertised on eBay from a company called motopumps.com. It comes with a pump that plugs into the Powerlet outlet and can inflate the tire after repairing a flat. Does anyone have any experience with this product? I am trying to decide on what to carry for tire repair as the previous owner took the tire repair kit (or lost it).

Thanks!

It looks like a cheap pump minus the plastic case- which some people swear by as small and effective.

If the price is right, and you test it to make sure it actually works and doesn't just burn up looks like it would do in a pinch.

I wouldn't suggest it for repeated airing up after lowering pressure to go off road...

And I have had a couple of cheap 12v air pumps melt down inflating truck tires that punctured- in fact it is about 1:1 tires to pumps.

Somebody gave me one of those slime pumps that seems OK. If it works once I'll be happy, but it's hardly what I'd call robust.

The $10 K-Mart / Walmart cheapies work just fine. Strip the cases off and discard. Keep fingers out of the gears while pumping. They will get hot. Oil their piston and bearings after each use and they will last a long time.

I bought the ever popular Slime pump at Pepboys. I forget the price but it wasn't very much. It is small and comes in a nice case.

I just bought a $9.95 (on sale) mini compressor, and put an accessory outlet plug on it. Works great!

By the way, if you can believe it, accessory plugs are sold at John Deere outlets!

Standard tire plugs are all you need, or if you are good at tire removal, radial tire patches. The latter effect a perminent fix. I got a nail in a near new tire a while back, and patched it. Over 15000km later when it was worn out I looked at the patch. It was still stuck so hard, I couldn't remove it.

Thanks to everyone's suggestions. I'll take a look in the local stores as an alternative to spending nearly $50!
