Survived-til-now

So I am half an hour into my commute and travelling at a steady 4500 rpm down the freeway. I sense something change in the engine note and glance down at the rev counter to see it rising to 6500 rpm so I back off the throttle and it returns to 4500 rpm. Assuming it is the clutch showing early signs of slipping I got to work being very gentle with the throttle and came home early (its a 60 mile commute).

Nearing home I decided to see if the clutch is liable to slip so I throw in a number of sudden accelerations - no slip! Then I try deliberately accelerating in too high a gear - no slip. Finally I accelerate hard whilst applying the brakes - rev counter is rock steady!

The bike has done 29,000+ miles and a lot of that is stop/start work in city traffic. No strange smells from the bike, no apparent oil leaks......

Any ideas confused.gif
