Mike_Brown
Got a box of motorcycle stuff from a friend. Inside was a couple of bungee buddies. Anyone have a set mounted on an 1150RT? I am thinking about mounting them, but since I have to drill holes to mount them, I want to put them in the best possible location. This could be dangerous to ask, but I will anyway: Any suggestions?? Link to comment
jbr7t
Good question. I purchased a couple of these for my 1150RT and have been looking at them and my cases trying to figure out the best position. The size of the washers that came with them seems to be a bit of an issue. I am probably going to use a smaller washer. Link to comment
Davis
David thinks he has the perfect location. For his measurements and several other photos see this thread. Link to comment
notacop
Use as big a washer on the inside as will fit the area. Body washers at the hardware store are good. You want to mitigate the stress as much as possible. With said bungee pulling on it's little buddy, you don't want to tweak the saddle gag any more than is necessary. You can use a acorn nut on the inside to protect your contents from a sharp bolt end. Link to comment
tomk99r11
If you want to mount them on the saddlebags sit on the pillion and try to see what your legs will hit on. A passenger will appreciate your attention and concern with their riding comfort is you don't put them right where they rub on a leg! Link to comment
Quinn
I used the washers that came with them, but had to grind off one side about half way to the hole to get them to fit around the latching mechanics. Link to comment
Husker Red
How about putting one right here with a rubber washer under it? The plastic is fairly flat and sturdy in that area. I don't plan on putting a whole lot of pressure on the bungee buddie here. Do you think it would crack the plastic? I think that location would be really useful because when only tying to the luggage rack the attachment points are pretty far back. Link to comment
tomk99r11
If you were a passenger on your bike would your leg be riding on the BB and what ever is hooked to it? Likely not very comfortable even short haul if so. Link to comment
