MooreDriven
I wanted to put a plug in for ROK Straps. I recently completed a 10-day trip through Yellowstone and the Black Hills of SD. We averaged 400+ miles per day. I had camping gear, chairs, duffel bags, etc all tied down by four straps. My cousin purchased some cheap tie-downs from Wally World and had to stop on several occasions to re-tie his gear. We road in heavy winds some days that really tested the straps. If you don't have a set, I highly recommend them. Also, they won't scratch your paint. Something I can not say for straps with hooks. You can read more about them on their website. Rok Straps I don't work for the company, just a satisfied customer. Link to comment
Jerry Johnston
Glad you like them since I bought a set at a motorcycle show - just haven't ussed them yet but they look good. Link to comment
Bullett
I bought two sets for our little jaunt to Denver earlier this monnth. We've used them on two trips, Denver and TOR so far. Very satisfied, they seem to work well. Link to comment
barryNmarin
I've had 2 sets that I've used in Death Valley, Torrey,Yosemite and most recently (last week) in British Columbia and Alberta. I wouldn't leave home without them!! Link to comment
RedMac
+2 on the ROK straps. I love em... The elastic works much better than just a nylon strap.. Good Stuff.. Link to comment
BruceWA
ROK straps are really handy and I keep both sets I own on the bike at all times. The wife keeps her set on her bike also! Link to comment
ChrisRappl
I have had different luck with ROK straps. I bought two sets and used one to hold a Helen TwoWheels wetbag to the top of my topcase. They held the wetbag just fine. When the temp hit 106 F we gave up on our Dariens and strapped them to the top of the topcase with two sets of ROK straps. About an hour down the road there was a bump as the rear wheel ran over some of the gear. Our jackets were in the middle of the interstate and one pair of riding pants was wrapped around the rear wheel and driveshaft. Both ROK straps had pulled the rubber to where the braided outer cover had pulled apart and the inner rubber broke. We are now wearing ATGATT regardless of the temp. When I get home I will look into a rack for the topcase and will probably use Helen's straps to fasten stuff to the rack. The consequences of the ROK straps breaking could have been much worse. As it is our jackets are beat, we lost one pair of riding pants and we could have been injured. They might work fine for you, but they didn't work for me. Just be careful and realize that there is at least one instance of them breaking. I was surprised that they failed and pretty much dismissed them as junk. The idea is great, but in my experience they are under engineered and not a quality product. Link to comment
Todd_Z1
ROK straps ROCK! I have used them to strap down camping gear, firewood, tires, boxes, groceries (I don't have a car) laptop computers, spare helmet, girlfriend and other stuff I can't remember. I have never lost anything but the girlfriend but that had nothing to do with ROK straps. Cheers! Link to comment
tomk99r11
I'm an ATGATT rider anyway but your alert to the ROK straps coming apart is appreciated. We sometimes assume things are lashed in place and that lashing will last forever. Obviously, not forever. Link to comment
ChrisRappl
The ROK straps that broke on me were brand new. It was not an issue of fatigue from age. Link to comment
maxfrankel
I'd say you just got a defective strap. That happens! Link to comment
Francis
RedMac, I love the line under your posting block and above your bike inventory. Francis Link to comment
