markgoodrich
I noticed coming home from Colorado that the throttle action has gotten stiff. Is there a simple adjustment or solution to this? I hate to take it to the dealer for something like this. Link to comment

Absent that, if you are asking if there is any adjustment for this, there is not. A warranty dealer visit is in your future I suspect. Link to comment
markgoodrich
no need for any sort of lock, with the cruise control, so dadgummit, I HATE taking the thing to the dealer. Link to comment
Mudman
You may want to to check the routing of the throttle cables first if you hate taking it to the dealer. The routing from the right switch group to the distribution box needs to be free from any sharp bends or obstructions. check this is true in all steering positions with the body panels off. Next check the throttle body cables from the dist box. They are short and need a smooth bend en route to the TB. The right cable is particularly vulnerable to restriction if the intake snorkel is improperly fitted. There is a close fit in this area between the cable and a channel molded into the snorkel. markgoodrich
Thanks for the suggestions...I ended up taking it to the local dealer today after calling them. Service manager said to bring it out, they knew the problem, could fix it on the spot. After half an hour of waiting, they suggested I get a ride home. The "pull" cable is bad, about half an inch from the little barrel thingie that holds the cable in place, crimped and frayed. The service writer guy looked at me with deep suspicion, but is replacing it under warranty...having to order it, of course. I suggested that since he'll have it for two or more days he go ahead and adjust the fuel gauge thingie so it provides an accurate "empty". He literally pouted, but said, very grudgingly, that he'd do it. I bet nothing gets done with this repair/adjustment. I had to insist that he put it on the work order. I've mentioned this before: first time I questioned him about the fuel gauge, he told me the manual has a misprint, that the R1200RT has a 5.2 gallon tank. Second time, when I told him I'd confirmed the size of the tank (not two weeks later) he said the adjustment won't work. I didn't bother a the time, as my bladder fills up before the tank runs dry, but since it's there, I decided to have it righted. He warned me darkly that it probably won't work, and besides, filing the warranty claim with BMW was more trouble than it was worth. To him. Strange. Anyhow, thanks for the suggestions.
