R1200RT: Is clutch lever adjustment possible?

While my wife is traveling for work, she asked me to ride her RT in order to put some miles on the bike prior to her 6K service appointment in a couple of weeks.

I immediately noticed that the clutch on her RT doesn't begin to engage until the lever is almost completely released. On my RT, the clutch will start to engage when lever is only 1/4-1/3 released. When I described this to my wife, she said it's always been that way and that she just got used to it.

I have noticed that when we ride together she will rev the engine more than I think is necessary, but after riding her bike, I found I was having to do the same thing. My first thought was that the clutch was worn, but when she indicated that it was always like that, I'm thinking that it was never properly adjusted.

Is there an adjustment that can be made? I've tried searching for a solution, but have had little success. A post on Adv.Rider forum suggested that the clutch reservoir may actually be too full, but when I compared level with that of my bike, it appears to be the same.

I noticed that on my 07 at first but then realized I could adjust the lever itself, so I set it as close to the bar as possible and no more issues.

BTW, my wife also revs her RT when starting but it's out of paranoia of stalling & dropping on take-off. It takes a little practice to start the RT off smoothly with minimum RPM's but it can be done. Dang high gear ratio for 1st gear.

I guess the question was't worded correctly. I don't need to adjust the lever(distance from handlebar), but rather the point at which the clutch actually engages. Compared to my RT, my wife's bike is borderline un-ridable. By the time the clutch starts to engages, the lever is almost fully released(regardless of the adjustment on the clutch lever).

If its only a couple weeks away, why not take the bike in a little early for the 6K service and report the issue with the clutch friction point. That way you have the issue documented if you are ever faced with a clutch failure down the road.

I've heard the same exact complaint on some new K models also.. and the dealers are saying it's normal.

FWIW - my '07 R1200R has a fairly normal feel to it - although the 'grab' point is further out than my old K75S was.
