The tool has a white piece of plastic around it. Almost went and bought something until I realized that I already had the tool!!! Link to comment
R1200Rdr
Yep, spark plug socket works. Got mine from my dealer for about US$7.00 + tax. Joe Link to comment
Jim VonBaden
Just cut the top off a 13/16" spark plug socket like I did. The cheap Taiwan ones seem to fit best, and cut easily. I have used this on dozens of tire changes. Or leave it on and fit an extension through the axle: That is, IF it wont fit in backwards. Jim Link to comment
Dick_at_Lake_Tahoe_NV
I went down to my local Ace hardware store and bought the largest Metric Bolt they have. The head fits neatly into the front axle socket. Then I bought two nuts and locked them together onto the bolt--works great. Link to comment
JohnH
A 3/4-10 heavy hex nut works well (7/8 across flats). Run it on a 3/4-10 screw with a 3/4 flat washer between the nut and the head of the screw with locktite and torque it to about 80 ft-lb. The nut fits in the axle hole and you use the bolt head to unscrew the axle. You might have to file the sharp corners off the nut. Try in in the axle hole before you run in on the screw. Redbrick
Thanks Jim VB for the creative way of using the plug wrench; through the axle if necessary.... I bought one of these "shower" wrenches from a local hardware....21/32 on one end fits...Less than 2 bucks I think...... Phil......Redbrick Link to comment
