'02 RT-P "buzzes" when battery tender is plugged in

My '02 RT-P has three accessory plugs - one on the dash, and two under the seat on the left side of the bike. If I plug my BMW-brand battery tender into the dash plug or the rear of the two left side plugs, a "buzzing" sound comes from the electronic box under the seat. If I plug the tender into the forward of the two plugs on the left side, all is fine.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this loud buzzing sound? The first time it happened, I could hear the sound through a wall from about 30 feet away.

No one on the MOA tech forum has posted a response, so I thought I'd try here, which is more specific to RTs...

Doug, one of those accessory plugs goes direct to battery & if charged there all should be golden..

One of the other accessory plugs is only powered with the ign switch on &/or maybe in accessory position also.. If by chance something is wired in on that circuit it will try to operate on the current supplied from the battery tender.. If you try to charge through that plug without turning on the ignition it will buzz or try to operate at low power.. What it is I do not know but you could pull fuses until you found it..

It really doesn’t matter as I doubt any power will reach the battery from that plug unless the ign switch is turned on..

Use a test light on the plugs & UNLESS you have power TO the plug with the ign switch in the off position you shouldn’t try to battery charge through it..

Thanks for the 411. Obviously a buzzing sound while on the charger can't be a good thing, so I pulled the plug as soon as I could. I believe the forward of the two left side plugs goes directly to the battery, as I've had no problem with "tending" the battery through that socket.

My main concern is did I do any damage to the bike by plugging the tender into the "wrong" socket? Everything works now as it did before this happened, so my guess is I did no damage.

I just made an appointment to take her to a "motorcycle electronics specialist" who has worked on the bike for a prior owner, so I'll bounce the question off of him when I see him later this week.
