kiwiaudio
Has anyone replaced the factory radio with an aftermarket CD receiver? I'm wondering what brands will successfully play a CD when mounted vertically in the side case. I used a blaupunkt this way many years ago, but it skipped a lot. Surely they are better now. I'm leaning towards a Clarion marine unit because they have a wired remote with a display, but would love to hear what everyone is using. Link to comment
jbuchan
The FAQ section covers the install of a Clarion unit. Here is the link:: http://bmwsporttouring.com/faq/radios.htm Link to comment
LGannon
I fitted a sony cd, but it skips a lot on bumpy roads, and there is no remote which is a pain, but the radio and aux inputs are fine with my Autocom hookup Link to comment
HoMa506
I've had a Sony CDX-MP70 in a '02 R1150RT for the last couple of years. It has what's called a G-Protection system and memory buffer to protect against skipping which I have to admits works unless I'm on a really rough road. This system is also what let's this be mounted in a vertical position. I have this hooked up to a Sony RM-XM10 Marine Remote Commander which is mounted to the dash. The bad thing is as I understand it the radio is not currently available anymore. You might Google search it to see if somebody might have NOS or rebuilt units. You might want to check eBay too. Good luck in your search. Link to comment
