pulstar plugs

We have been having an ongoing discussion at work about these for the past 2 months. I work in an engineering department and a few of the guys have been trying to talk me into being the guinea pig for them. They figure I will be able to tell right away on the bike if they make a difference (power/mpg). I keep telling them that I will try them as soon as someone else forks out the $50 for them. I keep telling them that if I was interesting in increasing my gas mileage I would just slow down and start going the speed limit grin.gif.

I won't believe anything until I see real numbers off of a dyno, and direct before/after mpg numbers from someone in the real world.

I have been searching automotive forums on a weekly basis to see if anyone has posted up any numbers, but so far it has all been speculation and a lot of uneducated argueing.

I'll contribute a dollar for YOU to test them and report. Payable after the report of course.... smile.gif

I'm good for a post test contribution of a dollar...now your only going to be out $48, but think of the valuable contribution you'll be making to this board!

It sounds like its getting a little deep in here. Let me run down to the garage and get my hip waders on.... grin.gif

I'm tempted to give them a try just for the hell of it. My local mechanic who used to work on my crotch rockets actually has a Dyno in his shop also.......that would tell the tale. I've been meaning to stop and ask him what he would charge me for a before and after run. We'll see......I'm still thinking it over.

I did find that the EPA tested these plug and got about 3% improvement in fuel efficiency. I was wondering more about the surging issues and what the pulgs would do to that.

My bike doesn't have an ounce of surging, so thats not an issue for me. As far as the 3% increase in fuel mileage......that is going to be almost impossible to proove on the street. At least with the way I ride. My gas mileage seems to adjust itself along with number of trucks and farm machinery I get stuck behind... grin.gif

My last 3 tanks of gas have got me 38.5, 39.5, and 41.0 mpg. That is right after a TBS and new plugs. Right there is a 6% swing to start with.

alright then, lets turn it around. You send me $48 and I'll buy the plugs, use tham on my next long trip, and report back about the gas mileage.

So, what you have is a "stobe light" pulse to ignite the fumes? Basically, you're charging up a capacitor and then sending out one big, quick zap.

I guess you can make a case that you're exploding the fuel mix by igniting it quicker and more at its peak compression than a regular plug would.

Okay, put me down for a dollar also. I'm curious; just not $50 worth.
