BarOne
Help! Turtle wax was used on the black matt surfaces on my R1200 RT and the stuff just won't come off completely -- a white hazy film remains. What would safely remove this material? What do you use on these surfaces to clean them up? Not nearly as urgent as some of the posts! Link to comment

russter
A couple of suggestions from one new member to another. As far as general care for the black matt surfaces, I have tried Pro Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish and Meguiar's Gold Class Vinyl/Rubber Protectant. They both seem to work equally well. I have used the Honda stuff for years on everything and its hard to beat.(It also works especially well on getting the grime off of wheels.) Either of these might take off the white haze, I'm not sure. If they don't something I've used for years for the nasty jobs is Goo Gone. You can get it at Target or Walmart and it is cheap. If you resort to this you want to test it on a spot that doesn't show in case it discolors the plastic.(Bottom of a saddle bag?) If you resort to the Goo Gone and if it works then you want to go over it with one of the other two products. I hope this works. I'll be curious how it comes out, please let me know if you try my suggestion. Russ Link to comment

BarOne
Thanks for the tips -- I am in the Adirondack Mountains for a few weeks -- not much shopping around here. Is Forever Black a product a NAPA dealer or Wal Mart type store might carry? No Honda dealers for mucho miles miles! Link to comment
GordonB
I use a product called UV-Tech. It is great at restoring plasitcs, protecting against UV, and for getting rid of white wax residue. I get mine at REI Coop. There is another great product called Protectall. Works well on plastics, no residue. But UV TEch is the best. It'll even get rid of 'gas splash' marriing on the dashes of 1150RT's. Link to comment

KingBiscuit
Previous owner used Plexus on my bike...looked so good when I bought it, I kept on using Plexus. This stuff works great! I bought mine at Iron Pony...local bike accessories store. http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/ Dan Link to comment

BarOne
Removing the haze -- Dawn did the trick. I think this stuff is a stealth product. Might work against terrorism if used at full strength. Treating the black -- I'll get some forever black or equivalent this week and let you all know. Link to comment
Bob_Mc
I use Mother's Back To Black on all my vehicles with black matte surfaces. It gets rid of dirt and white polish residue and does a really good job of protecting, even in the winter. Link to comment
