ndfellow
Since this seems to be the most popular radar detector on this site and I'm in the market, it looks like a winner for me, so questions: What are the best ways to connect into my super-pro autocom? What mount is best? My guess is waterproof) Can you directly connect to battery? How easy is it to ove this to my car when not on bike? Thanks! Link to comment
Mike
What you'll need to do is buy a Remove Audio Adapter from Valentine: and run an audio lead from the headphone jack to the Autocom. Folks here can give you more specific advice on which Autocom lead you'll need to buy and how to make the connections. As for mounts, I'm not a lot of help (ST owner), but on my old '99 RT, an accessory shelf was the easiest mounting solution and put the V1 in exactly the right position. Link to comment
ShovelStrokeEd
You are also going to need an isolation cable, or the Autocom isolated lead. The V1 power supply, whether the unit is switched on or not, produces an ungodly buzz in the audio circuit. Worth the annoyance though, the thing flat works. Link to comment
ndfellow
Could that be the reason I'm hearing my zumo in my headset right now? Annoying as all getout. Link to comment
Timmer
Sounds like you have a ground loop. The isolation cable should resolve that problem for you. I use two isolation cables - one for the GPS audio and a second for the V-1 audio. It also seems to help if everything is powered from the same source. Many folks here use a Centech fuse block.
