Gerard
I hope that I can get some help here. I have a 1100 RT (2000) and yesteday, I noticed a small black house dangling and touching the ground on the right-end side of the bike. The other end of the hose got disconnected somehow. I took the fairing out, the hose is thim (Few mm thick) and the other end was disconnected (Has a small T adapter)The lenght of the hose is around 2-3 ft long. I pulled my Haynes Manual but I can't find where that thing goes!! Any suggestions would be greatly welcome... Thanks Gerard Link to comment
arbee
Its one of three things 1. breather pipe for the fuel tank 2. overflow from the fuel cap 3. overflow from the battery fluid Link to comment

Gerard
OK, thanks I will go and check this. I have no problem checking the battery housing but where is the overflow for the fuel cap and the breather pipe for fuel tank? I have already removed left and right fairing. Do I need to remove more stuff? Thanks again.. Link to comment

ShovelStrokeEd
Given the T-adapter, it is the hose connecting your throttle bodies to the charcoal cannister via a solenoid valve located near the top of your air cleaner. You may have to raise the rear of the tank, one bolt on the right side of the tank, to reconnect. First, look under your throttle bodies to see if there is a similar hose connected on the bottom of each. If not, someone has done a cannisterectomy on your bike and you needn't worry about the hose at all, it doesn't connect to anything. If the hoses are there, you should for check the routing another hose heading for the right/rear of the bike. Link to comment
Gerard
OK, now after much pondering and probably humiliating myself even more, what are "throttle bodies". I am almost there.. ~ Gerard Link to comment
Bob Palin
Look for the black rubber tubes on each side of the bike just below the seat, the throttle bodies are the silver objects just in front of them, they are the fuel injection equivalent of carburetors. Link to comment
NonComp
It could be the battery overflow and it may be superfluous. When I started disecting my r1100r I found that the battery overflow was still in place, but it was free at both ends because the battery had been replaced with a newer sealed battery (no need for overflow). I have removed it. Link to comment
Gerard
Glen; You might right here because I could not find anywhere anyother spot where that hose would connect.(based on previous comments). I removed the battery, I am not sure if this is the original (I bought the bike used). It is a BMW Gel battery, completely sealed. I assumed that it was the original battery. Was the battery overflow at an obvious spot on the original batteres? Thanks Link to comment
NonComp
I'm in exactly the same spot. Bought my bike used and found the hose coiled under the battery box. I believe that the original battery was not of the sealed variety. The attachment point would likely have been on the left side of the battery, near the top. Link to comment
Ken H.
The attachment point would likely have been on the left side of the battery, near the top. Correct. Never could figure out while servicers who replace a vented battery with a sealed one and don't pull that hose out. As they often migrate downward over time and start dragging even. Link to comment
