wrestleantares
Bikes with little in the way of a dealer network. I am currently looking for a smaller 2nd bike to go with my LT and to be used for sport, commuting and maybe some 1 person touring. I like the oddball and hard to find bikes, and just cannot seem to find what I want used. Oh well, could be a long spell to find the "it" bike. Link to comment
Agent_Orange
Why so you can post of their web-site how [ fill-in-the-blank or blanks ] you are treated, or not, as the case may be. Link to comment

I think we need a T-Shirt to warn these dealers we are a part of BMWRT.COM. Maybe that will improve their customer service. Link to comment
BigGalloot
I feel your pain. It gets worse when they just don't make what you want anymore. I have been lusting after a Ducati Desmo 450 but they aren't for sale. Link to comment
Bill Neander
Here's one with 8 miles on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/74-DUCATI...1QQcmdZViewItem Link to comment
blkvelvt
Here's one with 8 miles on it. That could be a nice bike, but I would question the 8 miles only part. The nicks in the fork tubes, rear sprocket and other things make me think it did a little more road work. There is more than 15 to 30 minutes (approx 8 miles city driving) riding time on that chassis. It's still cool Try this instead http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-NORT...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1974-Nort...1QQcmdZViewItem Link to comment
NoLongeraK1200RSRider
Exactly what I was thinking! That bike looks like it has been ridden hard and put away wet! No way would I believe the odometer. The rust, corrosion, etc. are just too far gone to support that asking price as well. Link to comment
Huzband
I think I know what you mean. Somebody will surely light my a$$ on fire for this but, here goes. REAL motorcycle enthusiasts (not BIKERS) long for the more eccentric sickles. The ones that don't have a vast dealer network. Those brands often require more effort for service, spare parts, etc. There are many brands that come to mind, but it comes down to personal preference. Do you want something uncommon, but not so odd, say a Honda CB400F? Or maybe a bit more extreme, A Binelli 350 Six. Perhaps if you define your desires a bit, someone here can help you find what you're looking for. I do relate to your query, tho. Good luck in your search. Link to comment

I'm not sure if I would put it in the same terms as you, but I see your meaning. There is certainly a difference between a motorcycle enthusiast and an individual that just loves to ride. They can both love the actual RIDING just as much, but an MC enthusiast has often a greater appreciation for the MC itself, and can see the value and pleasure of MC's of all ilk. I'd define myself (using your terms) as more of an enthusiast than a biker. But I'm a poor one. Meaning I would love to have a stable of cool bikes old and new. However, I have to limit myself to practical and useful models for my biker side. I currently have a K12LT. Perfect bike for my two-up touring, and commuting when the weather turns foul. It is even fun in the twisties. But, it is a lot of bike - I'd like a smaller lighter bike for mountain roads (which I live in the midst of), summer commuting, and some one-up touring. I've looked at the conventional models SV650, FZ6 and others of that ilk. None of them seemed to excite me. I liked the R1100S, but it's range detered me too long and it was sold from underneath me (used bike of course). I did come across two Japanese models that surprised me. I liked the ZZR1200 and the Z1000. I also liked the KTM 690 SM. The Triumph Sprint (I like the 955 better than the 1050 looks wise). The BMW 650 GS is cool. So many bikes, so little time (and money). BigGalloot
That one's a little scary, he claims 8 miles on the clock, but chips out of the forks and the shifter marks on the pipe tells a different story. Not that it matters, 9 grand is too steep for a toy. Here's one with 8 miles on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/74-DUCATI...1QQcmdZViewItem Link to comment
