memaus03
I have another issue I'd like to share with others and see if they have experienced the same. I have a leather Corbin heated seat on my 1150RT. In principle this looks and seems like a comfortable seat. The thing that irrates the hell out of me is the continual sliding forward until I am literally on top of the tank. Why design a seat that has a nice wide section for your butt when your butt will never be there because it is sliding forward all the time onto the narrow section. I must mention that I am a tall bloke and have to ride with the seat in the highest position because else my legs cannot fit in behind the fairing. This sliding forward drives my knees into the fairing which causes more problems of another nature. What are the answers for keeping your butt where you want it when you pull away? Do others have similar problems? Thanks for any help. Link to comment
OoPEZoO
Try shimming up the front of the saddle. Take the seat off and look at the bracket that allows you to adjust the seat height. It should be held on with 4 bolts. Take them out and go to a hardware store. Find some that have the same size head and thread pitch but are longer. Then find some washers that will fit them (buy a handfull). Then go back home and experiment with different amounts/thickness of washers until you find something that feels more comfortable. It should tilt the front of the seat up and allow you to put your arse back where it belongs. Link to comment

Does the Corbin have the 2 large rubber bushings on the bottom towards the rear of the seat frame like the stock seat? If so, I just shaved about 1/4 - 3/8 inch off these with a sharp knife and the change was amazing. Take a little off at a time until you reach the angle you like. This could be preferred if you don't want to add any seat height. Link to comment

Personaly I have always wondered why those rubber stops were not adjustable from the factory (like adjusting the rubber hood stops on a car). Link to comment
memaus03
Isn't it amazing that when the answer/suggestion comes along you are left asking why you never thought of that in the first instance. Thanks folks, once again your help has been great! It does seem like lowering the back will be the way to go as raising the front might cause the seat to go up against the tank. I'll try it out this weekend. Link to comment
Huzband
When I had my RT, I had the same issue. I simply removed the "rubber baby buggy bumpers." It lowered the back section of the drivers seat perfectly. BTW, I'm 6-2, & ride with the seat in the low position. although, my knees pay for it after about 300 miles. Link to comment

Huzband
Oh, you're funny, schmuck. Maybe you should post on AdvRider, & say what you REALLY mean. Link to comment
STICKMAN
TO MAKE YOUR SEAT LEAN BACK A LITTLE AND NOT SLID FORWARD AS MUCH TRY THIS............ON THE RUBBER BUMPER ON THE BACK OF THE RIDER'S SEAT. THE RUBBER BUMPERS ARE IN TOTAL LENGTH 1.20 INCHES. THE STUD THAT THEY SIT ON IS APPROXIMATELY .975 INCHES. SO DON'T JUST CUT AWAY WITH A KNIFE ON THEM, USE A DISK SANDER AND SAND THAT THEM DOWN TO A TOTAL LENGTH OF 1.00 INCHES. THIS WILL NOT BOTTOM THEM OUT ON THE STUD AND YOUR BACK SEAT WILL STILL FIT PROPERLY. I HAVE DONE THIS TO MY 2004 1150RT AND IT WORKS GREAT. SHOULD YOU WANT TO RETURN THE SEAT BACK TO NORMAL, EITHER BUY NEW BUMPERS OR PLACE TWO FLAT WASHERS UNDER THE BUMPER ON THE STUD AND THIS WILL BE NORMAL HEIGHT. REMEMBER, THE BUMPERS THAT HOLD ON THE FRONT PART OF THE SEAT ARE THE SAME THAT ARE ON THE BACK OF THE SEAT. GIVE IT A TRY IT WILL WORK. Link to comment

awagnon
For my RT, I shimmed up the front of the seat support 1/4 inch AND trimmed the rubber bumpers at the back about 3/16 inch (including the center plastic post). By doing both, it made all the difference in the world. However, the seat does tend to "wobble" or not feel secure. I think it's the shaving of the bumpers which interferes with the pillion seat holding the driver seat securely. It still works fine. Link to comment
