campbroker
Just purchased a 2007 R1200RT - considering buying the BMW tank bag - but know of 2 guys that have the bag and the plastic map covering has turned yellow. Is this a problem? One of the guys swears he never cleaned it with any product other than plex cleaner. Link to comment
kcscout
Probably yellows on the inside. The plastic picks up residue from the maps/paper inserted underneath it. Link to comment
Beemeroil
If the yellowing can't be cleaned off with white vinegar any shoe shop repair should be able to help replace it. Link to comment
HandyAndy
A couple of years back when I had my MINI I bought a nice Cooper S key chain, they told me it came with a one year waranty! If any thing went wrong with it to just bring it back and they would replace it. If they waranty key chains the the tank bag must come with some form of waranty. So far everything I have purchased at BMW, such as jackets, boots and yes the keychain (still have it and it is in perfect shape) has come with a one year waranty. Has anyone asked about having a tank bag replaced/repaired under waranty? That is assuming that this yellowing happens within one year of purchase. Just a thought. Andy. Link to comment
Dave Grinsel
I had a BMW tankbag on my R1100S, and because I bought it when I purchased my bike, BMW warrantied it for three years. After 2 and 1/2 years, the straps frayed and broke and BMW replaced the bag. Link to comment
jsmith
I had my tankbag replaced under warranty about 6 months after I got it when the zipper pull came off. The new one is about 1 year old now and is always on the bike and has not turned yellow. It also doesn't get cleaned with anything other than a wet cloth, and rarely at that. Jim Link to comment
