Les45
Hi I have an 01 r1150rt with the standard bmw radio/cassette. Does anyone know if it is possible, to have it connected to the ignition switch so the power to it is cut when the ignition is off. If it is, how do I go about it. Thanks Les Link to comment
JohnBeaven
If you turn the ignition all the way off so that the steering locks the radio should turn off. This is the way it worked on my R1100RT and the way it works on my R1200RT. Link to comment
Haynes
You might get something from this thread Ednap started and surprise.... he lives in NSW. Take a look here: http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/sh...true#Post732196 Link to comment
AndyS
I note from the link given you, that a right hand switch block was added. Do any of you guys have the BMW part number for that item? Andy Link to comment

Thanks Les Les- Mine is an '04, but has parking / lock-off-remove key / RADIO-on-remove key / and run positions ... perhaps, yours is different? Link to comment
Charles Elms
If you were to do this with the factory radio for the 1100RT you would have to enter your secret anti-theft code to activate the radio every time you turned the bike on. If you disconnect the battery on your bike, does the radio still work without entering the code? Link to comment
Les45
I'd just like to thank everyone who replied to my query. Your input was much appreciated. John was right: it does turn off with the steering locked. I don't usually lock the steering, so I didn't realise that. I will probably do what Ednap did and add an external switch to allow me to turn it on and off manually. Thanks again. Les. Link to comment
