swgee
Fairly new to Beemers and the hydraulic clutch on my 2002 1150RT. I'm used to the feel of old cable/dry clutches. My question is, how is a hydraulic clutch supposed to feel? My clutch does not feel "solid" to me. No slipping or anything like that. Also, there is very little free play at the lever. Is this just me not being used to a hydraulic clutch? Link to comment
Ken H.
They do have a different feel, and the engagement point is near the end of the travel. The adjuster on the lever will help with finding a good position for your particular hand. With some concentrated standing still practice you can train your hand to where the friction zone starts. One of the keys to BMW clutches in general is very little disengagement is needed. Instead of pulling the clutch lever think in terms of "fanning" it. Just barely pulling it to facilitate a shift. HRminneapolis
I find a hydraulic clutch a wee bit harder to feather, but I'd never go back to a clutch cable now. Especcially with 100+ horsepwer engines, my left wrist will take a hydraulic clutch every time. Link to comment
swgee
Thanks. I love the bike, just getting used to it after coming from Triumphs. Already got real familiar with changing the fuel filter. Not too bad after doing some research on this forum. Link to comment
