Verizon GPS

I had to buy a new phone to replace the one I lost on vacation so I opted for one that will run Verizons gps program. Has anyone used their phone as a gps and how did you mount it? It has to stay open to run the program. it seems they have gotten better, it speaks to you, you can find addesses, etc.It might be a good learning tool.
