matthew
Hello all, I just recently purchased an 02 RT, and it doesn't have a radio. Any idea how to connect an .mp3 player. Thanks in advance, Matthew Link to comment

skinny_tom (aka boney)
If your bike still has the speakers in it, then you would need an amplifier to drive them. Most of us agree that the stock BMW speakers that came on the 1150RTs aren't good for much over street level speeds and have found other ways to listen to music. Helmet speakers are okay, but a good set of ear plugs with built in speakers are awesome. Link to comment
matthew
Thanks for the replies so far. I've tried to wear a pair of iPod headphones, and man, do they hurt my ears. I think I need to find something flatter. What do you use? Matthew Link to comment
Lynn
Thanks for the replies so far. I've tried to wear a pair of iPod headphones, and man, do they hurt my ears. I hated the iPod headphones-even without putting on my helmet. I bought a pair of Etymotic ER6i headphones and have been very happy with them. http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6i.aspx Link to comment
ronest
Thanks for the replies so far. I've tried to wear a pair of iPod headphones, and man, do they hurt my ears. I hated the iPod headphones-even without putting on my helmet. I bought a pair of Etymotic ER6i headphones and have been very happy with them. http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6i.aspx I have used the etymotic speakers and these worked great for about 5 hours of riding before becoming uncomfortable, then I went to S-Plug earplug speakers from cycle gadgets and have found these to be more comfortable. The S-Plug speakers have no protrusion to create the soreness. RD Link to comment
Nevets
Check out Etymotic ER6i earphones. No, you don't have to spend that much for them.... Look at buy.com and use the Google checkout for another $10 off your order. These have really worked great for me so far. I figured for the price, they are definitely worth trying, compared to some of the more expensive custom solutions (molded plugs, etc). If we can figure out where in MI you are, you could even look at, or try, mine (I’ve got new/unused tips for them). Saw your other post, feel free to PM me. Link to comment
Lion_lady
Some states don't allow ear bud type speakers, some don't allow ANY speakers, some don't seem to care. I believe you can find out your state's laws on the AMA website. In MD, for instance, in ear speakers(buds) are illegal, but helmet speakers (like Autocom), or bike mounted speakers are okay. matthew
I think I'm going to stay away from anything that actually goes inside my ear canal--at that point, it pushes against my helmet too much and begins to irritate. Perhaps the older style that just slips in the outer ear. Thanks for the direction. Sincerely, Matthew Link to comment
