I have the Bakup, definitely improves comfort on long trips. You also have the added bonus of trying to look cool mounting and dismounting with this on the bike.

Cruisin, I've seen their ads but the way it actually attaches is difficult to see from their pics. Can you explain how they attach? Does the tilt function really help? Which bike do you have?

do you have a picture of it on your bike? Does it fold all the way down for the passenger to get on? Okay my wife and I are 50 and not quite as agile as we once were.

I have the Bakup, too. Very comfortable on long trips. To mount or dismount, I use my right hand to fold the Bakup forward and down against the seat. That takes care of getting my right leg up and over. At 61 I'm not real flexible any more, but have learned to get on and off without falling down, leaning against others, or hopping uncontrollably on one leg after dismounting!

Sorry, not pics.

If you ride with your wife on an r1200rt, does she feel like she is always falling forward? That is the problem my wife has, she is only comfortable for a very short period of time, because she has to keep pushing back with her legs. What modifications or changes have you made to the seat, foot pegs, etc.?

Thanks

My wife has the same exact complaint. I ordered a Rick Mayer seat which should be done mid August. It should fix the problem. Here is a picture of my Rick Mayer seat on my last bike, a 1150GS.

I'm getting the foam in the passenger seat built up in the front to level out the existing pitch and having a gel pad installed inside the foam....I'll let you know how it works.

After the first ride I took with my wife she got off and told me to change the seat (we had Rick Mayer seats on my C) or the motorcycle, my choice. After Mayer seats all is well. To add even more comfort I had a mount made that allowed me to install floorboards for her. I had the iliums and she didn't like them. Now she is happy which results in peace and harmony in motorcycleville.

I'm really not an idiot but I cannot seem to get the hang of posting a pic in my message. I read the FAQ and if it was in Martian it would have made as much sense to me. Try this link for a pic of the floorboard http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=12011 (the LT website makes it much easier for someone of my "skill" to post a pic). If you send me an e-mail I will send you a pic of the seats. Translating the picture posting FAQ into something a dummy like me can understand would also work.

I have a Bakup that I only use for long distance trips. This is best used when combined with foot pegs so you can distribute your weight evenly. Add to this a Russell Day Long seat, customer stereo ear plugs and you're set. thumbsup.gif The only issue is mounting and dismounting without looking silly.
