Acid,

You have been through this. Same applies except their is a bit more to be gained as the engine is about 10HP down on an S to start. Trouble is, the thing is damned heavy so the little gains wind up meaning even less.

The only way you are gonna be remotely satisfied is a trip to RB Racing in Paramount. Bob Behn can set you up with a turbo system for about 4K that will take the RT where it was never meant to go. Say hi from me when you see them.

Hi Ed, well you might be correct about the bike not needing much, the exhuast sys and chip really perked things up, not sure i need any more on a 600 pounder that is so well balanced otherwise. dopeslap.gif

yes, SJ BMW has a number of kits and stages, i have several other bikes in the project stage, but if i get bored next winter i would consider some mild engine mods to further spice things up a bit.

So in the end, chip, Laser exhuast, (PC3, on the way.)

Ohlins F&R, loose extra weight wherever possible, the idiotic radio and speaks come out this weekend.

Oh and the PVM forged rimms,on order.

Im figuring i can loose another 7 lbs or so by converting over to all Ti hardware and a Ti front axle this summer, if it ever stops raining here.

Dont like the new Rts at all, sure glad i kept my 04 and investing in the mods. clap.gif

If you want to lose weight off the bike, have a look to see if you can lose the screen motor in some way. i.e. convert to a fixed or manual adjust screen. Not only will you lose a few pounds, it will be from high-up where it will be realy felt in transitions from side to side.

Boff, your the first perosn who has ever actually seen the advnatagesof that idea and mentioned it, i have considered it but not investigated it, i really like the lectric windshield, i have not seen the motor, any idea how big it is or weighs?, i doubt that i would remove it, maybe as a last resort but i could just carry i gallon of gas less when it matters and still keep the way cool electric windshield, im thinking the speakers and radio are better to trash at this point,, good idea though. clap.gif

The cheapest and healthiest way, if applicable, to reduce weight is for the rider to lose a few pounds. Okay -- this may not be the easiest way to reduce weight smile.gif

So i trashed the entirely useless radio, speaks and antena, what a mess those speaks are, huge, ran the wheels off that thing last saturday, ran it like a sport bike all day in the Napa hills, what a blast, wore myslef out, just could not ride sunday. So ill seel the radio set up now.

Ti rear wheel lug bolts and cones, yum yum yum, some Ti up top, the rest is coming.

Dieing to loose the center stand, but i really like it for parking ease, but it soooo heavy, battery, thinking about that, windshiled motor, too usefull, less gas, yup that works, old news, way old news. lighter wheels, tried that could not get the 5.0 for the rear, might try again, had to send the PVMs back, very disapointing. lmao.gif

I recently did the following:

Remus Ti exhaust system. Lost 14 lbs. (Irrelevant considering "MY" weight.)

Power Commander III w/ map for RT w/ Remus & K&N

K&N air cleaner.

Ohlins front and rear.

I don't think there is much in the way of "more hp" but there is a very noticeable gain in what I'll call "drive-ability" -- quicker through the revs, more responsive throttle, better overall throttle control, more tractable RPM/torque range.

Ohlins = plusher yet firmer ride, more settled / predictable handling.

All seat of the pants observations.

Scott, how does the bike start after adding the PC3, we have had allot of problems with the 1100s bikes and the PC3s. me included i have the one for the RT already but am hesitant to install it.

Interesting that you should ask. The "ONLY" operational difference I noticed is that it takes about one additional "turn-over" of the engine to start when cold. But, having said that, my bike was always one that started almost always on the first "crank," mine now takes a couple of revolutions to fire -- much as many other RT's I've been around do "stock."

Also, warm re-start requires keeping the throttle closed and just a bump of the starter button and it is running.

Been there, done that.

Best way is to replace it with a GT or ST 1300/FJR.

Otherwise you end spending lots of $ and be disappointed by results.

I added a Power Commander first and picked up 10 hp on the dyno and much smoother curve after it was tuned in. I just put a Two Brothers exhaust on this week. Lost 14 pounds and too new to tell about performance. Too cold and wet this weekend to ride.

Good luck.

Please post your before and after dyno runs results.

Before: 68.74 HP, 61.25 T

After: 79.89 HP, 62.98 T

This is at the rear tire. As we all know, quoted HP by companies are at the flywheel or just off the engine. Thus the descrepancy from BMW's 95HP and the dyno 68.74HP baseline.

My air/fuel mixture also leveled out to about 13.2 across the RPM range. The shop I bought the PC is RPM Custom and Performance Cycles in Austin, TX. Great folks. All in was $772, which was PC, O2 Sensor, installation and dyno tune. Plus any future adjustments if necessary. I plan on letting them check out the new exhaust and make any necessary adjustments.

I could have gotten more power, but wanted to maintain the same MPG. They were able to dial back the air/fuel mixture.
