italiano
HAVE ANYONE USED THE HIGHWAY PEGS THAT CAME OUT FROM THE SPARK PLUG COVER. Link to comment
Warren_H
Yes, I have them and like them. The model for the R12RT is called "Sahara Highway Pegs" you can buy them from www.cvmtouring.com. Search for "Elf Pegs" and you'll find more info on this site. Link to comment
Dr_J
I have the Sahara Pegs and I love them. They have clean lines when stowed and your foot is held in place when they are deployed. Dr J Link to comment
ElJefe
Are they very strong? The look a lot more 'wimpy' than other designs. Since I'm 275 lbs, I figure one leg & foot, with boot, weighs like 50-75lbs, plus whatever force I put on it to "skooch" back into my seat. Are these more sturdy than they look? Link to comment
gasser
I have a question on these too. How does it feel to have the vibration from the jugs? Also, does applying pressure eventually harm the jugs? BAsic, I know. But, curious. Link to comment
Dr_J
I think they are strong too, and I don't notice any vibration in my feet. Personally, I like the angle as it changes the butt to seat contact point. Dr J Link to comment
Gnossos
I just got back from a 6500 mile trip Out West, and I put the Sahara pegs on shortly before the trip. I used them mainly when I was on longer, more boring parts of the trip (I-80 across Nevada and the Great Salt Lake basin, for instance). I used them mainly to get a bit of leg relief, usually only for five or ten minutes at a time. The riding position felt odd to me -- kind of like having a gynecological exam at 75 mph -- and the seating position put a lot of pressure on the coccyx. For a short stretch, though, they were great. And they look very good, don't interfere with the cylinder-head protectors (the BMW-issue ones -- they won't work with some of the Wunderlich designs), exhibited no vibration, and seemed to be robust (I'm 230 in my skivvies). Another benefit -- on hot rides they're great for getting airflow up your pant legs! Link to comment
cheesewhiz
Are ya able to deploy and retract them while on the road? Link to comment
Dr_J
Yes, Just put the cruise on and reach down to deploy. You can retract them easily with your foot. DrJ Link to comment
pbbeck
I had the Sahara pegs on my R1200RT. They worked great, but I would not call them comfortable. They gave me an alternative place for my feet on long highway stretches, but only for a minute or two. It was nice having the choice and because of them, I was able to stretch a 400-mile day into a 600-mile day. I moved them to my GS when I traded my RT. On the GS, they are simply too close to be comfortable. I wind up resting my heels on top of the pegs which gives me a straighter leg position. BTW... Strength is not an issue. Link to comment
