OLYONE
I'm approaching 40K miles with the original rear shock. How does one ascertain when the shock needs replacement? Link to comment
tobyzusa
They start feeling mushy. If you are hitting bumps in a curve, the tires don't stick as well. Link to comment
Haynes
What prompted me to replace the shock was not being able to get the bike to track around corners. It was especially noticeable when the corner had a few undulations which caused the rear to bounce up and down like a sponge. The bike was very sloppy in feel. The general contention is that 40K kilometers can be the time to start looking at bike shocks so your 40K miles is certainly time to suspect that some attention is needed. Link to comment
