Dick_at_Lake_Tahoe_NV
They wanted to know about my recent warantee service to correct the Oil Sender problem and the Low Temp reading. I told them the Oil Sender was fixed, but despite moving the sensor up front and installing new software the Temp reading is still about 10-degrees F. Low.--no change from before. Now someone from BMW is supposed to call me. Have others had the Temp probe "fixed" and it still reads low--as before? I would like to tell BMW mine is not an isolated problem. BTW mine is an '05 R1200RT. Link to comment
Rocket_Cowboy
That's interesting ... BMW Motorrad just called me tonight asking about the tire change I had San Jose BMW do for me back in May. Wonder why there's such a delay in getting calls out? Link to comment
jimswms
I must be lucky. I get the annoying calls anytime someone other than Max BMW has worked on my bike. It's kinda odd that I never get calls after Max??.. Anyway, I find them annoying. I'd much rather they discount the bikes/parts/service and/or fix known issues with the bikes than spend the $$ on telemarketing. I realize it's all in the name of customer service, but, really, I'd much rather them figure out how to fix my bike so that it doesn't lose brakes entirely when a brake pad is low than pay for telemarketers. Just a thought. Stick it where you see fit. Link to comment
gettysburg
Those manufacturer's surveys tend to be a waste of time. - The questions asked are as vague as a horoscope reading. - You're not given the opportunity to clarify a less than perfect rating. - You are usually given a heads-up by the dealer/salesperson that someone will calling you; along with a guilt-trip about how a less than perfect score is considered a failure on their part. I'd be more inclined to take them seriously if the dealer was the one making the call Link to comment
GregB
They are primarily monitoring your satisfaction with the dealer. This is called a CSI rating - Customer Satisfaction Index. At least that is my experience with the auto industry. Link to comment
SteveMc
Have others had the Temp probe "fixed" and it still reads low--as before? I would like to tell BMW mine is not an isolated problem. BTW mine is an '05 R1200RT. I just had the warantee fix for my temp sensor. Before the fix it read seven or eight degrees to high, after the fix it seems about six degrees to high. I have an early 06. Link to comment
suraklyn
I wouldn't say they are a waste of time... I had an issue with my bike that the manager promised to address and resolve. Weeks went by with no resolution and an assortment of reasons as to why there was no resolution. I received the typical follow-up survey one day at work regarding my recent visit to the dealer, and I gave high praise except for the one issue. Two days later, I got a call from the dealer with a resolution to the problem. After talking with the manager and thanking him for working everything out, he kindly asked that I call BMW and let them know the issue had been resolved. From my own experiences, I'd say it's pretty obvious they care about the end user's satisfaction and want to make sure the end user is taken care of. Link to comment
pmurphy
I think the dealers actually have some control over it. During the many instances where Max BMW screwed up my bike, never once did I get a phone call. But when they only did something trivial, and hard to screw up, I would get a phone call the next day. RodB
My temp sensor was moved to the front right side last year. I didn't know it had been done until a few days ago when I took the tupperware off for an air filter change. Anyway, I have not seen any change in my temp readings since I took possession of the bike (May 05). It has consistently shown a reading of 6-7 degrees C below actual temperature. Link to comment
Pictou
That is kind of interesting. Do you know if they updated the software when the moved it? In my case my temperature reading was 3-4C too low until I had a software update done to fix the oil level sensor. Now it reads about 6C too high. In my case the temperature sensor is still in the original location under the fender. My temp sensor was moved to the front right side last year. Paul Mihalka
BMWNA knows about a performed service only if it was a warranty job. If not warranty, they don't know about it. Link to comment
