azkaisr
Nothing like waking up to this view and cool temps! But there was a lack of cream in the house so off I went to the store. Looking into town Ahh nothing like finding a cool pebble next to a river or the sea. The Brain trust making plans to conquer....or maybe just get breakfast.... One of the Wimpalinos taking pictures The other Wimpalino playing... Vroom...Vrooom...."And Rush passes Rossi to win!!!" A boy and his new toy. Whip had a problem with his FJR (like that is a big surprise ) so off he rode to the local BMW dealer in Denver...actually all he had to do since it was a Yamaha was ride to Montrose where they torque something with a doo hicky and he was good to go. Another reason to consider a FJR in my future. Ouray has some cool Hot Springs but I never got over there to try them out. The Turtles looked healthy As did the fish Most of the smaller kids fled when the Wimpalinos showed up in the playground We explained to Bob that Ouray was not Ancient Rome and we had to actually go buy breakfast. This is a cool house. And best of all.... It was for sale! The local Livery has been in business since 1883 but I think these horses have only been on the job since 1911. I wasn't making it up! The Ouray Trio's Greatest Hits include such classics as "I'm Leaving on a Freight Train", and the timeless Folk Classic.."Piko the Stuffed Drunk Marmot". The Wimpalinos pondering what to eat for breakfast After Breakfast we wondered around town while we waited for Whip to get back from the dealership. The day I don't moto, I may get me one of these to tool around in. Who would have thought that King Arthur may have had a pair of 501's he wore when not slaying dragons... Whip was back and we decided to go moto So off we went up into the hills South of town Larry swears with a few more tools he could get this thing started. Based on that comment, I was acutely aware of altitude sickness being a real possibility. Larry's hopes of having his dream car were dashed when it was discovered that the owner was away... So off we went to Silverton for funnel cakes. And they was good! I left the crew there and headed back into the hills to find some of the ghost towns that dot the area Nobody gets in Killers way for long...Nobody. He did use a good hand gesture though don't you thing? I like this picture a lot Cool Geology in the area and it makes for some neat pictures too. I really am amazed how they built this road way back when As I pulled into the driveway, I was getting more and more consumed with the fact that this trip was not about just staying with the Hoons in Ouray, but I had some personal business to address in New Mexico. The problem was I love being with the Hoons. Ouray II was a smashing success and I wanted to go with the crew on the jeep tour. So I did a little meditation and asked the man upstairs for some guidance.... He told me there was only room for 4 in the Jeep and I was kicked out of the club. So as the sun set on Ouray, we set off to have supper and catch Steve1150 before I would moto off towards Albuquerque. JohnLT joined us for dinner as well You can see how emotional Steve got at dinner This is one good friend Ladies and Gents....And I am sure glad I get to spend time with him and his lovely bride. This moke aint bad either. It is weird now to go on a long trip like Ouray II without Howard. I missed not chatting with him on the ride home. Thanks amigo Oh well what I left behind... But who was waiting on me in NM wasn't bad either....funny how life is like that. Meet Michelle, someone from the past that is now back in my life. But that part of the story is for another time over some beers at Ouray III The Tale of the tape for Ouray II Link to comment
