Dennis Andress
The Southern California fires started the Sunday of the weekend Laney and I moved her to Camarillo. We did the U-Haul part of the move on Friday and Saturday and headed back to Orange County to finish up before the sun was up Sunday morning. The Santa Ana winds were already blowing a steady 45 mph with gusts 20-30 mph higher. Laney spotted what was probably the start of the Malibu fire as we drove past West Lake Village. On Monday the Santiago Fire got within 500 yards of her condo. We called her next door neighbor to check and found they had evacuated. That Monday didn't suck so bad.... We went back yesterday to clean and turn in the keys. There were still a lot of road closures so I had to be satisfied with drive by pictures. Some Mondays really suck.... Driving by this looked like nothing had ever grown there. This looks like a fire break. It was taken about a mile from Cook's Corner Link to comment
