JMR
No secret the 12RT has very compromised mirror views, especially with a trunk and passenger. I've seen different 'auxiliary mirrors' mounted on the grip mounts were there is a little receiver hole...apparently for extra mirrors. Would like to ask around what mirrors are being successfully used for this. Thanks in advance. Link to comment
ScottM
I have a set of round mirrors off an 1150 GS. I think the 1200RS mirror fit and these are rectangular. Bigger field of view but obscure the built in mirrors on the RT. I have the built in set turned completely out. Between the round additions and the built ins there are no blind spots. JHP
Check this thread: http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/848205/page/0/fpart/1/vc/1 I ended up with a pair of K12RS mirrors and am very happy; my eyes rarely look at the stock mirrors now. Link to comment
bmwdude
I tested out some mirrors from a 2003 or 2004 GS, I believe. Anyway, they sat where you all are speaking about and I found them somewhat useless. They were much closer than the stock mirror and didn't really improve my vision--and I have found that I am getting used to using the stock mirror...although I have added a rectangular, convex mirror to the lower outside of each mirror which I have found very useful. Just my experience, however. The additional GS mirrors also added 3-4 inches of width to the bike...not a big deal but the bike begins to look like a Vespa from Quadrophenia. Link to comment
ben1364
I too have K RS mirrors as supplements and like them. The only quibble is that with the Cee Bailey W/S in the lowest position, I get interference at full handlebar lock. Link to comment
billp
What I did was to install 1150 GS mirrors in the holes in the hand grips. Cost is around $65 each, not cheap. But, what I ahve now is a perfect view of what is happening directly behind me. I use the stock mirrors for the very wide view for highway travel. Now I have NO blind spots. I can almost get away without a head turn. I still spin my head to make sure there is no car when I change lanes. So far no suprises. The mirror are set perfectly. BillP Link to comment
