When servo brakes don't initialize

I'm posting this based on Kye's problem in Alaska. I'm glad that got solved.

When the servo ABS brakes don't initialize after switching the ignition on, that means the warning light stays flashing and there is no servo action/sound, by far the most common problem is that the system thinks you are holding one of the brake levers. Check your brake light. If it stays on, does not go on/off with the hand or foot brake lever, that is the problem. It can be something stuck at the pedal. It can be a displaced hand guard on a GS or R bike that does not let the lever fully return. It can be simply be a defective switch. If I'd have the problem in the middle of nowhere and can't find the problem, I would cut the switch wire. I would prefer not to have a working brake light than to ride with residual brakes only.

The lever and pedal switches also signal the servo pumps to start.

It would be necessary to use the one without the cut switch wires every time, otherwise there would still only be residual braking. Or just use both lever and pedal every time, of course.
