sundance
If I just want to have B2B communication with my wife, do we need autocoms? Can we just get two radios, and headsets? We were thinking about a couple of Kenwoods and a headset. Any drawbacks to this? Not interested in hooking up a cell phone, GPS, Music or anything else. Just need some communication. Thank you Link to comment
E30TECH
No you dont need autocoms, but you will need something with a push-to-talk button (PTT). Chatterbox makes something that would be a little cheaper. MSRP is $200/kit, you might be able to find them cheaper checking google and yahoo shopping Chatterbox HJC FRS Link to comment

Thank you Autocom makes a couple of Bike-To-Bike (only) kits. Kit 21 is for use with Kenwood Radios. Kit 23 is for use with Motorola radios that use a single-pin connector. About $189 for the headset, cabling and PTT switch. You supply the radios. Quality stuff. Link to comment
Twisties
We use the Midland radios from here We didn't get their motorcycle headset because we have mp3 players and so use a Starcom1 integrator, but it does include a PTT button, and this is by far the cheapest way to go for b2b only. The two most expensive models are new generation and the cases are waterproof (according to Tom at that link, think can take a rain, don't go swimming) ... at $80 a pair we went for those. The vendor above was great to work with. Link to comment

Jim Dandy
We bought Chatterbox CB's. They work great. No longer needed. Great deal if you're interested. E-mail me. jjbandllb@earthlink.net Link to comment
TechDirector
I have played around with most of the options out there for pure B2B. If you only want to spend a few dollars I would look at the options at www.headsetusa.com Click on the two-way accessories and look at the motorcycle headsets. The good thing with these is that the have adapterss available for lots of radios, are pretty inexpensive and are easy to remove. If you want something nicer I am using a system from Avcom that is much higher quality but also a bit pricier. I can send you the info if you like. Chuck Link to comment

Thank you Steve, I have found the perfect gizmo for b2b--it called Interphone Bluetooth headset--I bought 2 of them for wife and I to use (we both ride R12RT's). They are great--no background noise, no buttons to push, just talk non-stop like being on the phone. If you want more details, send me an e-mail. Bob Link to comment
bobbybob
If you only want to spend a few dollars I would look at the options at www.headsetusa.com Beware of Headsets USA--aka Klein Electronics. I tried to buy headsets from them--what a train wreck! They tried 3 different times to send me headsets compatible with certain 2-way radios. Turned out the headsets themselves were defective one time, the other times they were just clueless about what works with what. Then they tried to force me to keep defective mdse. Don't waste your time there. Link to comment
