Front Brake Servo doesn't fully disengage

On my '04 1150RT I find the servo whine still slighly occurs when I am stopped. If I push the brake lever out slightly it will stop but without doing so it stays slightly engaged. Any suggestions? I'm concerned that my brakes are being slightly applied while riding and I already get lousy mileage. grin.gif

The bike has 14K miles on it and was completely bled at 12K.

There is a micro switch in the front lever that is sticking. A bit of a known problem. You might try first a shot of spray lube on it. If that doesn't get it the switch needs to be replaced.

Charlie, just because the servo motor is running doesn’t necessarily mean the brakes are applied or dragging.. All that motor does is supply the hydraulic pressure for the power brake part TO USE WHEN NEEDED you don’t get actual braking action until you move the hand or foot lever & apply manual hydraulic pressure to the servo control unit..

That servo motor running all the time isn’t good for the motor (see Ken’s post above) but if your problem is just a sticking switch all you have is the motor running & no actual brake apply.. Now if your hand lever is sticking you COULD have slightly dragging brakes if the lever doesn’t return all the way to it’s stop..

I appreciate the replies and do not think that the brakes are actually being applied. I'll work on cleaning the area and lubricating the switch. I had this fear that while doing 70 on the freeway the brakes would suddenly apply themselves, knocking me over to be run over by a car. Thanks for the explanation. thumbsup.gif
