Will Navigator III 12v adapter work in BMW Acc. Outlet?

I was wondering if the 12v plug used to connect the Nav III in the car cigarette lighter socket will power the GPS if plugged into the 12v power socket on a BMW 1150rt. This is the cord with the built in microphone on it.
