Retired At LAst
I recently took a ride to visit friends in Charlotte NC. Before leaving I did a full 12,000 service on the bike (1999 RTP). At that time I had to do a major adjustment on the clutch play as there was way too much. O n the 1000 mile trip down there I keep noticing a burning smell like electrical. I checked everything, all the fluids were fine but the play in the clucth keep increasing. Again I adjusted the play as much as it will go. The bike is now at the dealer. Any suggestions???? At no time did it slip. It ran fine under load. My buddy who rode in back of me also smelled the electrical burning smell. Link to comment
steptoe
Sounds like the clutch thrust bearing/piston unit has given up. Link to comment
Ken H.
Or could be the clutch cable fraying and stretching, about to give it up. Link to comment
