Addicted to my RT

I don't know what's happened with me lately but I've been drooling over too many things that I want to add to my RT that cost way too much for my budget. I've suddenly discovered I just have to get the chrome valve covers, a Sergent seat, some chrome covers for the brake and clutch resevoir, an alarm system and a tank bag. I can't stop thinking about it! What's going on here! My 04 1150RT is a dream just the way it is and I can't stop this daydreaming of doing all this work to it. Maybe I need a vacation or somthing! Anyone else have this happen to them and what do I do to quit obsessing about my RT? At least it's healtier than internet porn. eek.gif

Well you're not alone. dopeslap.gif

For me it was new Ohlins this week and some used city lids that I plan to have painted to match. I'm staying away from chrome anything... but am not happy with the scuff the previous owner put on the left valve cover, so at the next valve adjustment no doubt I'll have both covers powdercoated. Just need to decide if they'll be silver again or something more exciting.

The cure is to get on it and ride. Smiles over the miles will help damping the need to farkle. thumbsup.gif

Sidmariner

Hi, My name is Sidmariner and I'm an Beemerholic.

I feel for you my friend, she's an addiction. Other tell-tale signs include:

Going to work early just to get half an hour in the classifieds before before the boss shows up;

Leaving work late just because you need to check your eBay listings;

Adding 1150 RT, 1150RT, BMW RT, BWM 1150, BMW Motorcycle, R1150, BMW R, BMW Clothing, BMW Boots, BMW Jacket etc. etc. to your eBay watch list and checking every hour to see what turns up;

Obsessing over your internet "Favorites" list, ensuring it provides the maximum efficiency in the search for accessory sites;

Preferring time with your bike to time with your other relationships;

Growing accumulation of European motorcycle magazines and catalogs taking over your rec-room;

Proliferation of BMW badges on everything from jackets, helmets, coffee cups, boots, luggage, and of course, the bike;

Building a metric fastener and metric tool collection a shop would envy;

Collecting duplicate copies of shop manuals, shop manuals on CD, back issues of dealers' catalogs, and original brochures for your bike;

Circling the block upon sighting of another Beemer just to check if they've got something you didn't think of;

The screensaver on your computer at home and at work has photos of you and your bike and not your family; and

You're neglecting to consider porn as a web-surfing option because it's a waste of shopping time!!!

Remember, this is a mutual-support group. We're here for you. thumbsup.gif

Nope, too busy riding to think about BLING. grin.gif

Besides that stuff belongs on cruisers, because unless you are parked, you can't see that stuff anyway. dopeslap.gif

Now, the latest GPS, that's a different story. tongue.gif

On the positive side, if it makes you happy, do it! thumbsup.gif

It's good to see that you have accepted that you have an addiction. Like all addictions there are various levels of dependancy.

Judging from the information given I don't think that you have anything to worry about ...yet.

Your reference to going on vacation is a good sign that indicates that you still have a job and have not quit because it conflicts with your riding schedule.

I recommend that you spend more time "in the saddle" and see if you grow bored with the bike, other than that I suppose we could do an "intervention" for you.

But that will have to wait... because on Monday I need to quit my job and go on a long uninterupted ride on my RT. grin.gif
